Mobile: Road safety through smartphones.

The ability to obtain local road conditions can be a lifesaver for travelers, especially during storm events when conditions are subject to rapid change. State and provincial governments, and some municipal governments, are making current information available through mobile-friendly web pages and mobile apps. Road conditions are supplied for specific routes. This can be truly valuable for long distance travelers, such as truckers, who may choose to travel an alternate route or stay off the road until hazardous conditions subside. Additional information can also be provided, such as snowplough and sander locations (via GPS), traffic camera views, and parking bans.
